About: KB Theory are a Brisbane four-piece indie pop band with young talent and a big sound. They have a unique blend of catchy pop-rock with indie vibes, infectious melodies and fun lyrics, leaving you with music that's hard to get out of your head.
Bio: KB Theory is a Brisbane-based indie Rock/Pop band with hard-hitting, catchy riffs that will take you on a musical journey. Blending influences from rock and indie with a dose of catchy pop, they’ll leave you wanting more. Taking cues from the electronic samples of ‘The 1975’, the catchy melodies of ‘The Strokes’ and the indie rock of ‘Last Dinosaurs’ their songs showcase the band’s rock background and signature splash of pop.

Formed in South Brisbane in 2016, all four band members have had a single minded focus since early teens, striving to make a career out of their music. Their backgrounds hail from Music Industry College and the creative arts QUT.

A very sweet line-up consists of Dylan Cattanach (Songwriter, lead vocalist & rhythm guitar), Campbell Harris (bass), Harry Verity (Lead guitar) and Andrew Barnes (Drums).

Dylan Cattanach is the main singer/songwriter and met bassist, Campbell Harris, at Music Industry College, a school that is producing some of Australia’s best up and coming musicians. Both Dylan and Campbell got their musical grounding with the many influences happening around them.

Dylan met Andrew Barnes through mutual friends after working together on a local musical production and he was asked to join the band as his drumming style is a perfect fit for their genre. Dylan was always on the lookout for a lead guitarist and Harry joined late 2017.

"My bassist Campbell, and I, were already playing in a grunge band together and had originally met at school. I had been writing songs for a number of years that I wanted to start turning into a project of my own. I approached Campbell with some demos, and he has been a part of KB Theory ever since. We had an original drummer who subsequently left, so that gave us the opportunity to get in a new drummer and Andy came along just at the right time in 2017. I’d been looking for a lead guitarist for some time and Harry is the little brother of my best mate. All the boys are just naturally gifted musicians who complement each other and we genuinely like hanging out together."

With the release of their debut single Lights of Tokyo in February 2018, the boys have their sights set firmly on the future.

"We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, debut singles only come once and when bands nail it, it’s so, so amazing to hear. One more example of this is Brisbane’s KB Theory. Their debut single, Lights Of Tokyo is a brilliant first outing from a band that has their head firmly screwed on and their minds set for the future."

"KB Theory finally dropped their debut single Lights of Tokyo as of yesterday and they have done themselves justice. I gotta put my hands together for this debut."
